October 13, 1882 ---- June 24, 1976

Mrs. Henry (Katherine) Glawe, 93, passed away Thursday afternoon at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital after an illness of three weeks. Visitation was at the Boughton-Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt. Funeral services were held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Paul Adix conducting. Donna Tech played the organ and the congregation sang "What a Friend We have in Jesus" and "Nearer My God to Thee". Preceding funeral services, a prayer service for the immediate family was held in the Church Chapel. Ushers were Richard Tegtmeyer and Raymond Kumsher. Casketbearers were Herman Schaefer, Frank Whetstone, Ted Weiland, Robert Jacobson, John Ostercamp and Clarence Dahle. Interment was in the Ell Township Cemetery at Klemme.

Katherine J. Beek, daughter of Henry and Hempe Beek, was born October 13, 1882, in Germany, baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She came to the United States with her parents to the vicinity of Goodell when she was eight years of age. Her education was received in Germany and the rural schools near Goodell, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to William Brandt and they farmed near Klemme. The home was blessed with two daughters and one son, Louise, Martha, and Henry. Mr. Brandt died in 1910. On February 24, 1917, she was united in marriage to Henry Glawe. They farmed near Klemme until 1934 when they moved to Britt where Mr. Glawe followed carpenter work until his retirement.

A member of the First Lutheran Church, Mrs. Glawe belonged to the American Lutheran Church Women's Society. She was a devoted christian and was the oldest member of the Church. She was a dressmaker by profession and was very artistic in sewing and crocheting. The family circle was broken again on October 4, 1966, when Mr. Glawe died, and later when her son, Henry, died.

Mrs. Glawe is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Louise Johnson of Goldfield, Ia., and Mrs. Martha Neuhring of Stewartville, Minn.; nine grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Celestine Brandt, Hayward, Minn.; a half-brother, Henry Buseman of Belmond, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Hemo, Henry and George, and three sisters, Dena, Johanna and Margaret, and her sons-in-law, Burvene Johnson and Fred Neuhring.
