Funeral services for Irvin Nervig, 72, of Brooklyn, were to be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 19, in the Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn. Mr. Nervig died Friday, Feb. 14, 1986, in his winter home in Mesa, Ariz. Rev. Lynn Williams, pastor, will officiate with Mrs. Nina Bartachek as organist. Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Coburn, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Scott and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Creps. Casket bearers were Darrell Heetland, Dale Lippincott, Dean Lippincott, Roger Nelson, Stanley Walford, and Randy Goeke. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the American Heart Association. The Nevenhoven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Irvin Leslie Nervig, son of Amos T. and Sadie Nelson Nervig, was born June 28, 1913, in Hardy, Iowa, and died Friday, Feb. 14, 1986, in his winter home in Mesa, Ariz. He was a graduate of the Eagle Grove High School and studied civil engineering at Iowa State at Ames. He served with the US Army with the 70th Infantry Division in Europe during World War II. Mr. Nervig came to Brooklyn in 1938 where he was business manager for 40 years for TIP-REC retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Francis Gallagher American Legion Post #294, Corinthian Lodge #174 AF and AM, IOOF Lodge, and Elks BPO Lodge #1266 of Grinnell. He was a former director of Brooklyn Housing, Inc., and was a former member of the Commercial Club.

He is survived by his wife Agnes; one son and his wife, James and Nancy Nervig of Ankeny; one daughter and her husband, Carolyn and Stan Duncalf of Urbandale; one brother, Stanley of Eagle Grove; one sister, Mrs. Edythe Hartung of Des Moines; and four grandchildren, Michael and Amanda Nervig and Lynelle and Michelle Duncalf. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Thomas and Donald.
