April 19, 1847 ---- January 11, 1936

John C. Springman, 88, former resident of Cedarville, passed away at 10 o’clock Saturday night, January 11, 1936 following an extended illness. Friends may view the body at the Wiese & Tempel Funeral Home, South Adams Avenue, until Tuesday noon when it will be taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Effie Zimmerman, 902 South Globe Avenue. Brief funeral service will be conducted there at 1 o’clock Wednesday afternoon with services at Cedarville Evangelical Church at 1:46 o’clock. Rev. Aaron Wagner will conduct the services and interment will be made in Cedarville Cemetery. James Madden will have charge of funeral arrangements.

Mr. Springman was born in Pennsylvania, April 19, 1847, the son of Mathias and Mary Magdalena Springman. He came here with his parents when a small boy and practically all of his life has been spent in the vicinity of Cedarville. He was united in marriage to Mary M. Garman August 24, 1868. To this union four children were born: Mrs. Venetia Yoder of Woolstock, Iowa; Mrs. Effie Zimmerman of Freeport; Mrs. Alice Ulrich of Dakota, Illinois; Mrs. Agnes George of Harlem Township. His wife passed away January 9, 1926. The following brothers and sisters survive: Mrs. Katherine Garman of Cedarville; Mrs. Mary Best, Mrs. Belinda Kleppinger, George D. Springman, all of Freeport; Mrs. Della Bender of Dazey, North Dakota. One brother, Henry Springman of Storm Lake, Iowa passed away May 4, 1935. Mr. Springman was a carpenter by trade and followed that occupation for many years. He was affiliated with Cedarville Evangelical Church.
