November 13, 1915 --- April 13, 2008

Charlotte Eliason, 92 years and 5 months, of Kanawha died on Sunday, April 13, 2008, at the Kanawha Community Nursing Home. Funeral services for Charlotte Eliason were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, at the United Methodist Church in Kanawha with the Rev. Cynthia Morrison officiating. The Ewing Funeral Home in Kanawha was in charge of arrangements.

Charlotte Stella, the daughter of Lee and Lily Haberkamp Hammon, was born Nov. 13, 1915, on a farm southeast of Garner. She attended rural school and later the public school in Garner. She graduated from the Garner High School in 1934. She attended Waldorf College from 1935-1936. She taught rural schools for three years. Charlotte married Olaf G. Eliason on May 25, 1938, at the home of her parents. They made their home on a farm northeast of Kanawha. To this union three children were born: Richard, Judy and Lois. Charlotte and Ole loved to travel and spent their winters in Texas. After her husband’s death in 1978 she moved into Kanawha. She was employed at the Kanawha Community Nursing Home as a cook for a while.

Charlotte was a member of the 4-H Club and later a 4-H garden leader for many years. She had many hobbies. She loved to care of flowers, crochet, hardanger articles, quilting, china painting, and reading. Charlotte had a quilting group in her home for more than 25 years. She made quilts for her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and also the United Methodist Women. She held various offices in both the church and the Ladies Aid. She was active in Congregate Meals. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Clubs and enjoyed playing cards and other games.

Charlotte is survived by her children: Richard (Lois) Eliason of Kanawha, Judy Stevenson of Waverly and Lois (Ray) Pedelty of Ankeny; ten grandchildren: Phyllis (Randy) Jordanger, Doug Assink, Peggy (Dennis) Dallman, Denette Altick, Curtis (Deb) Eliason, Doreen Elliott, Debra (Jim) Jorgensen, Danny (Amy) Assink, Ann Shaklee and Alan Shaklee; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two aunts: Ruth Haberkamp and Naomi Haberkamp; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ole in 1978; and a sister and brother-in-law Mildred and Lloyd Pringnitz.
