October 31, 1851 -- March 17, 1937

Kanawha, Iowa, March 23; - Lars Peter Peterson was born October 31, 1851 at Gottenberg, Sweden, and died Wednesday, March 17, 1937 at his home in east Kanawha at the age of 85 years, 5 months. He suffered from the infirmities of old age and was bedfast for the last ten weeks.

Mr. Peterson lived in Sweden until 1872, when he came to America and settled at Paxton, Illinois. In 1915 he moved to Stilson where he lived until 1922 when he came to Kanawha. He was married to Martha Johnson, of Paxton, Ill., on October 19, 1887. Mrs. Peterson passed away Sept. 16, 1936. Surviving are one son, Carl Peterson, of Britt, three daughters, Mrs. Edward Mehl, of Britt, Mrs. Dewey Weltzheimer and Lily Peterson, of Kanawha. One daughter, Mrs. Nettie Anderson, preceded Mr. Peterson in death.

Funeral services were held at the Kanawha Lutheran church Saturday afternoon with the Rev. Maurice Peterson in charge. Pall bearers were John Shurson, James Mehl, Lars Olson, Elmer Engstrom, Mons Omvig and Tom Dahl. Burial was made in Kanawha cemetery.
