BRITT, IA - LaVerna Frank, 92, of Britt, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt. Funeral services for LaVerna Frank will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at United Methodist Church, 707 Fourth Street Southwest in Britt, with Pastor Robert Dodge officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt. Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, Dec. 6, from 5-7 p.m. at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center St. W., in Britt.

LaVerna was born to George and Gertrude (Welch) Peterson, on May 17, 1919, in Vincent. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School. LaVerna was united in marriage with Martin Frank on Feb. 12, 1939, at her parents' home in Renwick. The couple made their home on a farm near Eagle Grove before moving to Wesley in 1948. In 1970, she moved to Britt. LaVerna was employed as a housekeeper at Hancock County Memorial Hospital. LaVerna enjoyed traveling, flowers, playing bingo and crafts.

LaVerna is survived by her children: Jerry (Agnes) Frank of Algona, Gail Frank (special friend, Heidi) of Hotchkiss, Colo., Loren (Shari) Frank of Woden and Doyle Frank of Mancos, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and brother, Donald Peterson of South Dakota. LaVerna was preceded in death by parents; husband, Martin 1967; sons, Carl Frank in 2011 and Raymond Frank in 1990; grandson, Shane Frank in 2003; one brother and three sisters. The family of LaVerna Frank would like to thank Westview Care Center for the care and understanding they provided for LaVerna for the last six years.
