Carmen Louise Loux was born May, 25, 1919, in her parents' home near Renwick, Iowa, the daughter of James Irwin and Lora Christine (Tanck) Peer. She was raised and educated near Renwick, graduating from the Renwick Public School in 1937. She then attended Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa, where she received her teaching certificate with a major in child development in 1941. While at Iowa State she was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, which was a musical group. She taught high school in Allison and Greene, Iowa. During World War II, she moved to Portland, Oregon, and taught nursery school to help with the war effort. She then returned to Iowa to teach at the Vernon Public School.

On September 3, 1950, Carmen was united in marriage to Charles "Cobb" George Loux at her home in Renwick. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. Carmen was a devoted wife and mother and chose to work at home following her marriage. She was very dedicated to her work in the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove and taught Sunday school, Bible school and led Bible studies for many years. She had a fascination for nature and Carmen always enjoyed reading, music, camping, fishing and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed watching sports, especially those events her grandchildren were in. She had a special appreciation for birds, butterflies and lighthouses. Her love of family was only surpassed by her love for the Lord. She was a member of the Equality Club, Esther Circle and Beta Sigma Phi.

In 2001, Carmen moved to Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon, Iowa, and later to the Sanford Senior Care Center, also in Sheldon, where she passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2011. She was 92. Survivors include three children: Janet Sneiderman and husband Darrell of Sheldon; Dr. James Loux and wife Deborah of Clear Lake; Steven Loux and wife Marcia of Thor; seven grandchildren: Jona Fitzsimmons and husband John; Dr. Kirk Sneiderman and wife Kim; Emily Hanson and husband Luke; Tony Sneiderman; Laura, Sarah and Megan Loux and one great-grandchild, Kade Sneiderman. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles on June 9, 1993; two brothers, Norman and Corwin Peer and three sisters-in-law, Irene and LaVonne Peer and Helen Loux.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 6, from 5-7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with the Rev. Mike Agnew officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield. Memorials can be made to the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove or to the Morris Animal Foundation, 10200 E. Girard Ave, Denver, CO 80231. Oakcrest Funeral Services-Renwick.
