Calvin Floyd Armstrong Sr., 60, passed away Saturday October 15, 2011 at the Hancock County Hospital in Britt. Calvin was born January 29, 1951 in Algona, the son of Floyd and Dorothy (Fish) Armstrong. He was the proud father of three children, Calvin Armstrong Jr. of Algona, JoAnn Armstrong of Algona, and the late Kevin Armstrong.

Calvin had been bitten by the love of the speedway at an early age. When he was younger he would help his brother Nick on his racecar. That love of racing carried on throughout the rest of his life. This passion was also passed on to his son Calvin Jr. both of whom could be found packing the track. Calvin also loved to drive around town, which his daughter JoAnn also enjoyed. There were many times you could find those two scooping the loop in Algona. Calvin lived the last months of his life in Corwith with his brother Nick who took care of him in his time of need. He was also cared for by his sister, Deb, his brother, Larry, as well as his sister-in-law Julie.

Calvin is survived by his children Calvin Jr. and daughter JoAnn both of Algona; brother Nick of Corwith; sister Debra (Kevin) McDermott of Britt, and brother Larry (Julie) Armstrong of Wesley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, and son Kevin, as well as special grandmother Louise Fish.
