After graduation Carl served in the United States Navy for 4 years as a Crew Chief for Air Machinists during the early years of the Vietnam war. Carl married Charlane Peck on October 21st 1967 at Salem Missouri. They moved to a rural farm site near Kanawha in 1969. Carl’s primary occupation was as a heavy equipment operator. Carl was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in Kanawha. Carl married Sandra (Enroth) Gordon on February 18th 1989.
Carl is survived by his mother, LaVerna Frank of Britt Iowa and by his four brothers: Jerry Frank and his wife Agnes of Algona, Iowa, Gail Frank of Hotchkiss, Colorado, Loren Frank and his wife Shari of Woden Iowa, and Doyle Frank of Mancos, Colorado. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carl will be missed and remembered by those who called him Dad; Jon Frank and his wife Rebecca of East Chain, Minnesota, Chad Frank of Saum, Minnesota, Jodi Mayerle and her husband Lenny of Grand Rapids Minnesota, JaCee Ritchie and her husband Randy of Bemidji, Minnesota, and Daniel Gordon and his wife Lorena of Belmond Iowa. Carl will also remembered and missed by a large and still growing number of those who called him Papa—not to be confused with Grandpa since that word is only used for “old people.”
Carl Frank was preceded in death by his father Martin Frank in 1967, his brother Raymond Frank in 1991, and his wife Sandra Frank in 2008. Carl will be remembered for his strong sense of humor, his love for children, working on mechanical projects, always wearing bib overalls and having a beard, and his thorough enjoyment of being Papa. The entire family wishes to thank Daniel Gordon for his selfless care and effort given to Carl over the last 3 years. Thank You!
God will give each person according to what he has done. To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. Romans 2:6-7
