Funeral services for Elmer Kenneth Livingston, formerly of Corwith, were held on Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at the Corwith United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bob Dodge officiating. Internment followed the church services at the Corwith Cemetery. Military graveside rites were conducted by the Elmer Wilson American Legion Post #229. Elmer Kenneth Livingston, was born on March 4, 1931 near Corwith, Iowa, to Arthur "Bud" and Ena Adams Livingston.

CORWITH - Funeral services for Elmer Kenneth Livingston, 71, of Corwith, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Corwith. Interment will be in Corwith Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Elmer Wilson American Legion Post No. 229 of Corwith. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Corwith.

Elmer Kenneth Livingston was born on March 4, 1931, near Corwith, to Arthur "Bud" and Edna Adams Livingston. He received his education in Corwith, graduating from Corwith High School in 1949. After his schooling, Elmer farmed north of Corwith. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Elmer returned to the farm after the service.

He was married to Ila Lantz on Aug. 16, 1964, at the United Methodist Church in Corwith. The couple continued farming. In 1981, Elmer and Ila established the Livingston Insurance Agency in Corwith. Elmer also continued farming and raising thoroughbred horses and quarter horses. In 1993, Elmer and Ila moved into Corwith and retired. In May of 2001, they moved to Mason City because of Elmer's failing health. Elmer was a member of the Corwith United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the Elmer Wilson American Legion Post No. 229 in Corwith, where he was a former commander. Elmer belonged to the Mended Hearts Cardiac Support Group in Mason City and was a past member of the Life Underwriters Organization.

Elmer died on Friday (June 21, 2002) at his home in Mason City at the age of 71. Elmer is survived by his wife, Ila, of Mason City; and his children, Lisa Livingston, of Cedar Rapids, Julie Breiner and husband, Greg, of Visalia, Calif., and Kenneth Livingston, of Spirit Lake. Also surviving is his mother, Edna Livingston, of Kanawha; his brother, James Livingston and his wife, Lynn, of Carmichael, Calif., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Eugene. Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home.
