September 8, 1934 -- January 14, 2004

Lawrence Dean Olthoff, 69, of Eagle Grove, died Wednesday, Jan 14, 2004 at Trinity Regional Hospital at Fort Dodge. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Presbyterian Cemetery, east of Kamrar, with Rev. John Wilson officiating, followed by military rites.

Lawrence Dean Olthoff, son of Louis and Harmka Cordes Olthoff, was born September 8, 1934 on a farm near Webster City. He attended Webster City schools, graduating in 1952. During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army. On August 5, 1953, he married Shirley Rae Samuelson at Fort Dodge. Following his discharge, he farmed with his father near Kamrar. They moved to a grain-cattle operation near Humboldt where they were in business for several years. He left farming following his fathers retirement and worked in construction in the Humboldt area. He had also been employed by the Giese Construction in Goldfield, before his retirement. He had resided in Eagle Grove. He was preceded in death by his wife on October 26, 2002.

Mr. Olthoff is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Mary Jo Olthoff of Storm Lake; Jeff and Vonda Olthoff of Sibley; Jason and Aimee Olthoff of Humboldt; daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and John Kuhn of Eagle Grove; Beth Vanderhoff of Storm Lake; Michelle and Jim Cisar of Arvada, Co; 15 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Fonken of Kamrar; Genavee Law of Duncombe; Letha Supple of Iowa City; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by great-grandson, Keenen Olthoff-Mosley; his parents; sister, Vivian Olthoff.
