MASON CITY, IA -- Stella M. Parks, 78, of 1531 Sixth Place S.E., died Tuesday (Nov. 12, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. The body was cremated. There will be no visitation. Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. John's Episcopal Church, 120 First St. N.E., with the Rev. Robert Towner officiating. Inurnment will be in the Corwith Cemetery, Corwith.

Stella M. Parks was born Oct. 18, 1918, in Mason City, daughter of Albert E. and Anne (Lewis) Bower. Stella was raised in Mason City. She was married to Kenneth Schroeder until he preceded her in death in 1966. She then was married to Morris Parks and they lived in Hampton, where she operated her own Ceramic Shop. In 1985, she retired and returned to Mason City. She loved to play bingo. She was involved with the Girl Scouts for 25 years and was an active member and president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Pam Awe and her husband, Joe, of Corwith; two sisters, Doris Marson of Mason City, and Genevieve Johnson and her husband, Harold, of Britt; eight grandchildren, Tawnya Parks of Forest City; Kelly Parks and Gerald Awe, both of Corwith; Jeff, Jody, Jayme, Jessica and Justin McFadden, all of Des Moines; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Richard Parks; one daughter, Donna Thompson; two sisters; and one brother.
