Margaret G. "Margie" Applegate, 67, of Nevada and formerly of Maxwell, died Thursday, Sept. 6, at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in Corwith Cemetery in Corwith.

Margaret G. "Margie" Applegate was born Oct. 18, 1939, in Durango, Colo., the daughter of Jack and Pansy (Donaldson) Porter. She married Robert "Bob" Applegate Feb. 14, 1963, in Storm Lake. He preceded her in death Aug. 6, 2003. She had worked at Story County Hospital, starting as a CNA and retired in 1986 as director of ambulance services. She loved to fish and hunt mushrooms, and she enjoyed the music of John Denver, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash and Don Williams.

She is survived by two daughters, Melodie Applegate, of Maxwell, and Dawn Charlet, of Carson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Deb) Applegate, of Maxwell, and Dale (April) Sanders, of Canyon Country, Calif.; and seven grandchildren, Heather, Micayla, Katy, Ashlyn, Garrett, Dylan and Darek. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Jack.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is charge of arrangements.
