GOODELL, IA-- Roy Christian Boller, 80, of Goodell, died Thursday (Aug. 7, 1997) at the Belmond Health Care Center. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Goodell United Methodist Church, Goodell, with the Rev. Ken Fineran officiating. Committal will be in the Amsterdam Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The body has been cremated. The Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond, is in charge of arrangements.
Roy, the son of Anton and Catherine (Langlitz) Boller, was born Nov. 11, 1916, in Goodell, Iowa. He attended school in Goodell, graduating from high school in 1935. He spent two years in the C.C. Camp. He then worked for General Mills in Belmond for several years and then transferred to General Mills in Los Angeles, Calif. He was married in the Goodell parsonage to Darlene Paige of Belmond. He returned to Goodell in 1954 and worked as a custodian in the Goodell Elementary School. He retired in 1979. He continued to make his home in Goodell until failing health, when he moved to the Belmond Health Care Center. Roy was an avid sports fan, playing high school baseball and basketball. A lifelong Iowa Hawkeye fan, he was a member of the I Club, having held season football tickets for 30 years. Roy also enjoyed playing golf at the Belmond Country Club. His favorite pastime was driving around in his car looking at the crops or seeing what could be seen.
He was a member of the Goodell United Methodist Church.Roy is survived by one brother, Ken Boller and his wife, Ruby, of Belmond; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Bill, Tony, Harvey, Eddie, Erwin, Wlater and Wes; and one sister, Lucille.
