VENTURA - Rosetta "Rosie" Aitchison, 91, of 4 W. Lake, Ventura passed away on Thursday (June 3, 2010) at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010, at the United Methodist Church, 10 S. Weiner, Ventura, with the Rev. Donald E. Preston officiating. Interment will be at 2:15 p.m. at the Amsterdam Cemetery, Kanawha. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Family suggests memorials to the Rosetta Aitchison Memorial Fund.

Rosetta was born Dec. 12, 1918, the daughter of Andrew and Clara (Omvig) Brown at Britt. She attended rural school in the Britt area. Rosetta married Merwin Edward Aitchison on Sept. 14, 1936, at Britt and they farmed in the Corwith area. They moved to a farm north of Ventura in 1948 where they farmed until 1962, then moving to their present home in Ventura. Rosetta enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, feeding the birds, picnics, going to dances and playing solitaire. She was a member of the Ventura United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her two children, Shirley Mathews, of Clear Lake, and Dwight (Janis) Aitchison, of Lakeville, Minn.; six grandchildren Debra Cohrs, Vickie Meling, Doug Meling, Scott (Terese) Meling, Brent Aitchison and Tara (Tyler) Cooper; four great-grandchildren, Teresa Bergan, Travis Campbell, Tiffany Campbell and Tyrelle Campbell; and seven great-great-grandchildren, Jefferson Davis, Joslyn Davis, Summer Schaer, Devon Campbell, Ava Campbell, Jordyn Callaway and Cade Cooper. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law Donald Mathews; one brother, three sisters and great-great-grandson, Jayden Callaway. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. Clear Lake.
