CLEAR LAKE - Burdette W. Beers, 95, died Friday (March 19, 1999) at the I.O.O.F. Home, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Ventura with Pastor Paul Hasel officiating. Interment will be at the Corwith Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. Fourth St., Garner, with a Masonic service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church Tuesday.

Burdette Warren Beers, the adopted son of Fred A. And Mattie B. (Benner) Beers, was born March 1, 1904, in Omaha, Neb. He was raised at Corwith wher he graduated from Corwith High School in 1923. On March 30, 1926, he was married to Bonnie Benner at the Christian Reformed Church in Clarion. Burdette began trucking on his own and then drove for Merchant Motor Freight and, in the late 1950s, for Bock Transport of Garner. In 1961 they moved from Garner to Clear Lake where he was the director and manager of the Methodist Camp from 1962 until his retirement in 1969. They moved back to Garner in 1970 for a year and then returned to Clear Lake. Due to ill health, he moved to the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City in 1994. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ventura, Bethel Masonic Lodge No. 319 of Garner, OES Unity Chapter No. 58 of Mason City, Twelve High Club, I.O.O.F., Grand Cross International Order of Rainbow for Girls and Golden Club.

He is survived by three sons, Warren Beers and his wife, Anna Mae (Juhl), of Ventura, Calif., Eldon Beers and his wife, JoAnn (Hanna), of Tipton, and Bernard Beers and his wife, Frances (Watkins), of Sulphur Springs, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson. Burdette was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie, Nov. 11, 1995; two grandsons, Dennis Beers and Bentley Beers; his parents; and a sister, Beth Scace.
