BELMOND, IA - Herman D. Beek Jr., age 76, of Belmond, passed away Monday (May 10, 2010) at the Belmond Medical Center. A private memorial service was held. Burial will take place in the Amsterdam Cemetery near Goodell. Arrangements are entrusted to the Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond.

Herman Donald Jr., the son of Herman and Cora Van Osten Beek, was born Dec. 26, 1933, in Hancock County, Iowa. Herman attended Goodell schools and graduated from Goodell High School. He held several jobs during his working life. Herman started out as a farm hand. He then worked in construction and later would move on to Winnebago Industries. Herman worked for several seed companies, Tomco, Acco, Paymaster and Cargill. Herman last worked for North Iowa Woods before retiring. Herman is survived by a sister, Linda, and two brothers, John and Larry all of Belmond. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Henry. Dugger Funeral Home, Belmond.
