Arlene Kramer, 87, Garner, died October 28, 2006 at the Belmond Medical Center. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner with Rev. Tim Diehl officiating. Burial was in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner. Music was provided by organist Margaret Jass who accompanied soloist Angi Smith. Casket bearers were Tim Smith, Todd Smith, Troy Smith, Chris Smith, Dan Kramer, Mike Smith, Taran Allison and Tad White.
Arlene Elizabeth, the daughter of Emil and Emma (Grell) Kraus, was born December 4, 1918 at Klemme. She graduated from Klemme High School as class valedictorian. On September 26, 1937 she married Art Kramer at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived in Garner. Art died in 1968. In 1999 she moved to Rise Apartments in Belmond and in May 2006 to the Belmond Health Care Center. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, baking cinnamon rolls and visiting with people. Arlene will be remembered for her positive attitude in life. She was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church and the women's fellowship.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Arlene is survived by her children Jack (Judy) Kramer of Des Moines, Sharon Smith and significant other Don Bancroft of Belmond, Judy Smith and friend Roger of Algona, Diane White of Clear Lake, and Tammy (Tim) Allison of Maple Plain, MN; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and brother Calvin (Sharon) Kraus of Garner.
