Maylene (Tesdahl) Schreur, the daughter of Lewis and Vera (Rust) Tesdahl, was born September 22, 1923 on the family farm south of Kanawha. She was baptized and confirmed in St. John’s Lutheran Church. She attended country school and then attended Clarion High School, graduating in 1941. She received her teacher’s certificate and taught country school for five years. Maylene married Bill Schreur, the love of her life, on June 1, 1945. They had four daughters and one son; Linda, Deanna, Kathy, Marilyn, and Mark.

Maylene worked tirelessly in the home, cooking meals, cleaning, and caring for her children. Maylene had her own private library, because she loved to read. As a tribute to our mom – she was feisty but she deeply loved God, her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She prayed faithfully for us. We will miss her but we are so grateful she has entered into the full presence of Almighty God.

Maylene is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bill of Kanawha; five children: Linda and John DeVries, Deanna and Lyle McDougle, Kathy and John Kajfas, all of Mount Vernon, Washington, Marilyn and Kevin Bosma of Nixa, Missouri, Mark Schreur of Kanawha; sixteen grandchildren: Ron, Annette, Travis, Nicole, Tami, Shawn, Troy, Calvin, Matt, Andy, Leslie, Kari, Gena, Kellen, Keturah, Keaton; thirteen great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law: Darrell Dibben and George and Helen Eekhoff; two sisters-in-law: Betty Schreur and Edna Schreur. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Vera Tesdahl; granddaughter, Elizabeth Vander Veen; great-grandson Ethan Hartzog; her sister, Marge Dibben; her brother Don Tesdahl and niece, Sarah Wheless.
