October 24, 1996Marie Goll, 82, of Garner, died Wednesday (Oct. 23, 1996) at the Kanawha Community Home, Kanawha. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Peace Reformed Church, south of Garner, with the Rev. Robert E. Grossmann officiating. Burial will be in Peace Reformed Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. Fourth St.
Marie Eleanor Goll, the daughter of Christian Albert and Edith Vivian (Watts) Nonnweiler, was born April 12, 1914, on a farm near Hayfield. She moved with her family to Garner in 1920, where she attended school. After graduating from Garner High School in 1932, she worked in the office of Central States Electric Company. On Sept. 24, 1935, she was married to Leon Oscar Goll at Immanuel Reformed Church in Klemme. They farmed southeast of Garner until Leon's death in 1974. In 1975, she moved into Garner. Due to ill health, Marie had resided at the Kanawha Community Home since May 30 of this year. She enjoyed family, friends, traveling, playing cards, flower gardening and gardening. She was a member of Peace Reformed Church, Ladies Aid, Bible Study group, Garner Garden Club and the Concord and Ell Homemaker's Club. She also taught Sunday school and served on the Prairie View Apartments board. She is survived by her three children, Dr. Darrel Goll of Tucson, Ariz.; Charles Goll and his wife, Kathy, of Garner, and Marcia Greany and her husband, Kay, of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Nonnweiler and his wife, Barbara, of Garner; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Goll, Oct. 1, 1974; infant twin grandchildren, Donald Dean Goll and Donna Jean Goll; her father, Chris Nonnweiler, Oct. 18, 1956; her mother, Edith Nonnweiler on April 12, 1977; and two sisters, Thelma Nonnweiler in infancy and Maxine Taylor, Sept. 21, 1991.
