April 2, 1911 ---- November 3, 1996

KANAWHA, IA --Lucia Esther Studer, 85, of 121 W. Sixth St., died Sunday (Nov. 3, 1996) at the Kanawha Community Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Matthew Miller officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ewing-Dugger Funeral Home, Kanawha, and one hour prior to services at the church. Lucia Esther Studer was born April 2, 1911, at Bancroft. Survivors include three daughters, Muriel Hoover of Des Moines, Carla Rust of Kanawha, and Carolee O'Connor of Ankeny; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters and two brothers.

Lucia Esther (Tyrrell) Studer

Lucia Esther Studer, 85, passed away Sunday, November 3, 1996, at the Kanawha Community Nursing Home in Kanawha, Iowa.

Lucia, the daughter of Rev. W.W. and Alice Irene (Nickson) Tyrrell, was born April 2, 1911, in Bancroft, Iowa. She received her education in the Britt schools. On July 31, 1928, she was united in marriage with Vernon J. Studer. The couple made their home in Corwith, where they farmed until moving to Kanawha in 1945. They then purchased the City Market in Kanawha and ran this business until 1960. The couple then moved to the Des Moines area for a time before returning to Kanawha in the early 1970’s.

Lucia was an avid sports fan and she also loved politics. Her life was her family. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Kanawha and also the United Methodist Women. Lucia was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by three daughters, Muriel Hoover and her husband, Donald of Des Moines, Iowa; Carla Rust and her husband, Merle of Kanawha, Iowa; and Carolee O’Connor of Ankeny, Iowa; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Lucia was preceded in deth by her parents, her husband in 1974, five sisters and two brothers.
