SERVICES FOR MRS. LUPPEN WEDNESDAY. DEATH CAME TO RESIDENT OF THIS COMMUNITY LAST SUNDAY

The neighbors and many friends of Mrs. Peter Luppen, Sr., were saddened by the tidings of her death Sunday morning at her home three miles north of Kanawha. Mrs. Luppen's health was impaired about thirteen years ago by diabetes, which in time brought about a general weakened condition. About five years ago her eyesight began to fail and during the last year of her life she was almost totally blind.

Mrs. Peter Luppen, Sr., nee Della Jans, was born in Bunde, Province Ostfriesland, Germany, on May 14, 1868. At the age of 13 years she accompanied her parents , who came to America, making their home near Wellsburg, Grundy county, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Mr. Peter Luppen on December 1, 1892, at Ackley, Iowa, with the late Rev. C. Bode officiating. About 44 years ago they moved to Hancock county, making their home on a farm northwest of Kanawha. For the past 20 years they lived on their farm three miles north of Kanawha, where she was summoned from this earthly life Sunday morning, November 22, 1936, at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 8 days. Her departure is mourned by her husband and seven children: Emma (Mrs. Okko DeBoer, Adrian, Minn.) Edd, Peter, Sena (Mrs. Harm Veer), Will, Jennie (Mrs. Harm Vrieze); 19 grandchildren, other relatives and friends, Her daughter, Mrs. Richard Van Hoorn, preceded her in death, also three children who died in infancy. She was the last of a family of five children. With the passing of Mrs. Luppen another of the older residents of this community has departed. With her husband, she was a charter member of the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church. Before her illness she was a regular attendant at the church services, employing the means of Grace and happy in the confession of her Savior, whiom she had learned to serve in her youth. With her interests centered about her family she will long be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Funeral services are announced fo Wenesday of this week at 1:30 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church, with the Rev. D.H. Plesscher officiating, Pallbearers are Bert Schreur, Dan Abbas, W. Willemssen, J. H. Cooper, Harry Peters and F.T. Freerksen.
