KANAWHA - Raymond G. Rust, 94, of Kanawha, passed away Wednesday (June 27, 2001) at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha. Graveside memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha with Pastor Susan Detwiler officiating. Friends may greet the family from 9 until 10:15 a.m. on Saturday at the Ewing Dugger Funeral Home in Kanawha. Burial will be in the Amsterdam Township Cemetery.

Raymond, the son of George and Lucy Hunt Rust, was born May 13, 1907, on a farm north of Kanawha. He grew up in the Kanawha area, where he received his education. Raymond was united in marriage with Agnes Thompson. The couple made their home and farmed north of Kanawha, where they raised four sons, Leonard, Merle, Richard and Jerry. Raymond later moved to Marshalltown, where he was united in marriage with Ida Dorr. A daughter, Shirley, was born to the couple. Raymond was employed by Fisher Control in Marshalltown until his retirement in 1972. He entered the Kanawha Community Home in December of 1997.

Raymond is survived by three sons, Merle and his wife, Carla, of Kanawha, Richard and his wife, Harriet, of Mason City, and Jerry, of Goldfield; one daughter, Shirley Stephenson and her husband, Todd, of Marshalltown; grandchildren, Terry Rust, Kathi Heady, Jean Wilcox and Jeff Rust; great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Randy and Allison Rust, Derek and Kevin Wilcox, Jake Heady and Tyler and Nathan Rust; stepgrandsons, Chris and Garrett Stephenson. He was preceded in death by his mother (1915), father (1970), four sisters, Eva, Vera, Opal and infant Ethel; one brother, Louis; one son Leonard; and two wives.
