KANAWHA - Carla J. Rust, 69, of Kanawha passed away Saturday (Dec. 15, 2001) at the Kanawha Community Home, in Kanawha. Memorial services for Mrs. Rust will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Kanawha with the Rev. Susan Detwiler officiating. Burial will take place in Amsterdam Township Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Carla, the daughter of Vernon and Lucia Tyrrell Studer, was born Dec. 13, 1932, in Corwith. In 1945, the family moved to Kanawha, where Carla later graduated from high school. Following graduation, Carla attended beauty school in Des Moines. She then was employed in Sioux City. Carla was united in marriage with Merle Rust on March 6, 1955, at the Kanawha United Methodist Church. The couple has since made their home in the Kanawha area, where Carla was employed at various beauty shops and later was employed by P.S.I. She was a member of the Kanawha United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Professional Hairdressers Association, where she held several offices. Carla enjoyed fishing, being with people and having coffee with friends.

Carla is survived by her husband, Merle of Kanawha; and two sisters, Muriel and Donald Hoover of Des Moines and Carolee O'Connor of Ankeny. She was preceded in death by her parents.
