Peter Smidt, Son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Smith, Died of Diphtheria

Peter Smidt died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 1923, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon from heart and kidney complications following diphtheria of a very serious form. He was ill for only eight days. Mr. Smidt was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Smidt and was born east of Ackley, June 4, 1982, being at the time of his death 31 years, 4 months and 5 days of age. He had been a resident of the Buffalo Center community about twenty years and at the time of his death resided on a farm two and one half miles northeast of Kanawha. He was united in marriage to Miss Grace Luppen and to this union three children were born, all of whom are now left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father.
