Kanawha Reporter, Kanawha, IowaFuneral services were held for Peter A. Baker on Monday, October 18, 1982 at the Britt Christian reformed Church at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Verlyn Vander Top gave the words of comfort. Mrs. Ralph Tjaden was organist and Mrs. Ron Eisenman, accompanist. Marge Miller and Mrs. Steve Hasty sang two duets, "Shall We Gather at the River" and "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder". The congregational hymns were "I Need Thee Every Hour" and "God Be With You Till We Meet Again". Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Britt with the Carter-Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pete A. Baker, was born April 22, 1909 to Albert and Lena Abbas Baker and was 73 years of age. He was baptized in the Christian Reformed faith in Wright County and also attended rural schools in that county. He was married to Henrietta Boelman in November, 1935. They farmed in the Britt area for many years and he retired in 1979.
He is survived by his wife Henrietta of Britt; two daughters, Shirley Battelson and Roberta Juhl, both of Britt; two sons Brian of Britt and Bill of Minnesota; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Jennie DeWaard and two brothers, Ed Baker and Anco Baker, all of Kanawha.
