Services Held for Dale Veldhouse, 82

Funeral services were held for Dale E. Veldhouse, 82, on Friday, December 16, at 1:30 p.m. in the Christian Reformed Church in Kanawha. Rev. David Daley officiated.

The organist was Marilyn DeKruyff. The soloists, Marvin and Bob Engh, sang "Rock of Ages" and "Amazing Grace". The congregational hymn was "How Great Thou Art". Casketbearers were Dale's 12 grandchildren - Patty, Penny, Jaci, Jodi, Pam, Sheryl, Joni, Michael, Phil, Julia, Paula and Peggy. The ushers were Harold Assink and Dean Smidt. Interment was at the Amsterdam Township Cemetery. The services were under the direction of the Ewing Funeral Home.

Dale E. Veldhouse, 82, died on December 13, 1994, at the Kanawha Community Home. Dale, the son of Philip and Bessie Spitler Veldhouse, was born on February 14, 1912, in Kanawha. He attended country schools here. He married Jennie Pogge on March 5, 1932, at Jennie's parents home near Renwick. The couple farmed in this area. They returned in 1967 and moved to town.

He is survived by three daughters, Joann Perlongo and her husband, Jerry, of Los Angeles, CA; Roberta Eekhoff and her husband, Albert, of Nevada, IA; and Lavonne Helmick and her husband, Keith, of Moravia; two brothers, William and his wife, Faith, of Humboldt and Duane and his wife, Ardele, of Herman, MN; twelve grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Dale Veldhouse was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jennie, in June of 1992; a daughter, Carol Ellen; five brothers; and two sisters.
