Services held for Theodore Herman Kemp

Only a few hours before he would have reached his 82nd birthday, Theodore Kemp, retired farmer, died Sunday evening at the Belmond Community hospital. He had enjoyed continuing good health until this spring. His declining condition made it necessary for him to enter the hospital three weeks prior to his death. Funeral services were held at St. John's Lutheran church at Belmond on Tuesday, June 13. Fulton Funeral Home was in charge and Rev. William Heinzig officiated. Burial was in Amsterdam cemetery. Pallbearers were Amos Hanson, Warner Butts, Elmer Anderson, Peter Kalkwarf, Elmer Kienenberger, and Clarence Vestweber.

Born in Pomern, Germany, on June 12, 1879, Mr. Kemp was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Kemp. He emigrated to this country with his parents in 1888, the family settling at Fort Dodge. During his young manhood he employed in brick-making, first at Fort Dodge and later at Redfield and at Chaska, S.D. He turned to the occupation of farming in 1917 and for the next 30 years, until his retirement in 1947 farmed northwest of Goodell.

On Feb. 7, 1917, he married Clara Heginger, who preceded him in death on June 30, 1956. They were the parents of two children, who survive. Florence (Mrs. Paul Voitman) of Tripoli, and Edna (Mrs. Merlyn Norris) of Eagle Grove. Mr. Kemp also leaves five grandchildren and two brothers, Frank Kemp of Goodell and Otto Kemp of Fort Dodge.
