FUNERAL FOR PAUL KEMP, 59, GOODELL WAS HELD MONDAY; DIED FRIDAY AFTERNOON, WAS BORN IN GERMANY; CAME TO AMERICA 1888

Goodell--Paul Kemp, 59, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kemp was born Aug. 18, 1880, in Brandenburg Germany, and died at his home in Goodell Friday afternoon, Oct. 12. He came to America with his parents in 1888, settling at Fort Dodge, later coming to Goodell where he was employed on farms. Mr. Kemp was united in marriage to Miss Clara Prelip of Goodell Jan. 22, 1909, by the Rev. I.E. Hartman of the local United Bretheren church. To this union was born one daughter, Viola Alice, who died Nov. 27, 1925. Mr. and Mrs. Kemp began housekeeping at Fort Dodge where they lived for four years, then moved to a farm northwest of Goodell, later moving to the Rust farm just north of town. His health failed two years ago and in September he held a sale at his farm home and they moved to their town home just last week. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was faithful in attending and supporting that church. He was a man of fine character and numbered his friends by his aquaintances.

He is survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs. Wm. Schlichting, Goodell; three brothers, Theodore Kemp, Goodell; Frank Kemp, Belmond; and Otto Kemp, Fort Dodge, and many other relatives and friends. A short prayer service was held at the home Sunday evening for the immediate relative, Rev. H.P. Senft of Belmond in charge. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 12:30 at the home in Goodell, and at 1:15 at the St. John's American Lutheran church at Belmond, with the pastor H.P. Senft, officiating. Burial was made in the cemetery at Fort Dodge. Pallbearers were Howard Dominy, V.E. Harris, O.C. Evanson, Marin Burrs, Ira Langlitz, and Amos Hanson.
