YAKIMA, Wash. — Clara A. Jackson, 91, of Yakima, Wash, formerly of the Kanawha area, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 1999, at Central Health Care Center in Yakima, Wash. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 1999 at Keith & Keith, 9th Avenue Chapel in Yakima, Wash. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Ewing Dugger Funeral Home, in Kanawha with the Rev. Susan Detwiler officiating. Interment will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery, Kanawha. Visitation will be two hours prior to services today at the Ewing Dugger Funeral Home.

Clara was born on July 2, 1907, in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Bessie (Carr) Berhow. Clara married James Alvin Jackson. In 1945, the family moved to the Yakima area. Clara was a homemaker. She loved and enjoyed being with her family, reading, crocheting, cooking, canning and gardening. She had a sense of humor.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Leonard Jackson, of Lacey, Wash., Helen and Jack Acord, of Selah, Wash., Arnold and Jean Jackson, of Yakima, Wash., Celia Cantrell, of Turlock, Calif., Jay and Karen Jackson, of Yakima, Wash., and Sharon and Jerry Landon, of Kennewick, Wash.; 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Terhark, of Clarion, Iowa, Edna Riekens, of Forest City, Iowa; Ruth Lotspeitch, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Ruby Zeigler, of Kanawha, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Jackson in October of 1968; sons, Albert and Larry Jackson and daughters, Velda Bishop and Janice Smeltzer; brothers, Galen and James Berhow; and sisters, Verla Nelson and Esther Egemo. Ewing Funeral Chapel, Britt.
