05/17/1997Alfred "Smitty" Kelch, 68, of Clarion, died Thursday (May 15, 1997) at the Clarion Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church with the Rev. Wayne Droessler officiating. Following services, the body will be cremated. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Corwith. Visitation will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Willim Funeral Home, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Alfred "Smitty" Kelch was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Corwith. Survivors include two daughters, Shelly Kelch of Spencer and Lisa Altes of Altoona; five sons, Michael and Anthony, both of Omaha, Neb.; Nicholas of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Timothy of Buffalo, Minn., and John of Cherokee; three sisters, Cecilia Lee of Hayward, Calif.; Margaret Anderson of Clarion, and Alice Hague of Castro Valley, Calif.; three brothers, Vincent and John, both of Bloomington, Ill., and Charles of Marshalltown; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, seven sisters and one daughter.
