Marvella Mae Overbeck, 66, of Clarion, formerly of Swaledale, died Friday (Jan. 26, 1996) at Community Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany Reformed Church, Belmond, with the Rev. Melvin Voss officiating. Burial will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery, Goodell. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond, and one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church.

Marvella Mae Overbeck was born Feb. 28, 1929, in Belmond, a daughter of Donald and Clara (Holm) Beenken. She grew up and attended school in Belmond. In 1950, she was united in marriage to Leroy Mattix. On March 7, 1960, she was united in marriage with Melvin Pannhoff. In 1984, she was united in marriage to Albert Overbeck. Marvella worked as a cleaning lady for various businesses and homes. She was working at the Pizza Hut in Clarion, where she had recently been named employee of the month, at the time of her death. Marvella loved country western music. She also loved spending time with her family and friends.

Marvella is survived by two daughters, Virginia Swann of Burke, S.D., and Barbara Ledvina and her husband, Ken, of Williamsburg; one son, Steven Mattix and his wife, Julie, of Brandon, S.D.; six grandchildren; three sisters, Delphine Watermiller and her husband, Herman, of Hampton, Velma Sobottka and her husband, David, of Roberts, Wis., and Barbara Ohrt and her husband, Carl, of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Donald Beenken and his wife, Marie, Roger Beenken and his wife, Laura, and Alan Beenken and his wife, Dixie, all of Clarion; numerous nieces and nephews; four half sisters, Betty Beenken of Des Moines, Cathy Hand and her husband, Greg, of Germany, Denise Beenken of Des Moines and Donna Beenken of Grinnell; and one half brother, Ricky Beenken of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; one son, Carl, in infancy; and one brother, Russell.
