Doris E. Jensen, 83, of 408 Marian St., Normal, Illinois died at 9 a.m. Sunday (April 1, 2007) at her home. Her memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bloomington, with the Rev. Knight Wells officiating. Entombment will be in the St. John's Lutheran Church Columbarium. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, the Salvation Army or the Home Sweet Home Mission.

Doris was born May 8, 1923, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the daughter of Harold James and Anna Mae Donaldson Lalor. She married Robert J. Jensen on June 28, 1944. He died June 10, 1990. Survivors include three sons, Ted Jensen, Bloomington; Dr. Mark (Susan) Jensen, Pass Christian, Miss.; and Keith (Jan) Jensen, Edwardsville; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Jensen graduated from the Eagle Grove, Iowa, schools and attended Illinois State University. She passed the certified professional secretaries examination in 1973. Doris was a program administrative assistant in international studies at ISU until her retirement in March 1987. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Bloomington; a lifetime PTA member; and volunteered in assisting cancer patients. Doris loved life, her family and close friends and neighbors. Her life was rooted in a strong faith in God. Doris was an avid gardener and reader. Her life was long and well-loved and lived.
