CORWITH - Rose Anna Unger, 85, died Sunday (Oct. 15, 2001) at Westview Care Center, Britt. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Corwith, with the Rev. Marvin Bries officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Corwith. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Corwith. A rosary will begin at 5 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Rose Anna Unger was born May 20, 1916, at Britt, to Anton and Christina Hejlik Stupka. At the age of three, Rose moved with her family to Wisconsin where she received her education. After her schooling, Rose did domestic work and was a babysitter for area families. On July 2, 1942, Rose was married to Harry A Unger at Eagle Grove. The couple lived in Corwith where Harry farmed and Rose was a homemaker. From 1950 until 1967, the Unger family lived in the Garner and Forest City area. In 1967 they moved to Holmes and lived there until 1976 when they returned to Corwith. Rose was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Corwith where she belonged to the Altar Society and the Guild. She also taught religious education. She and Harry were great supporters of all of the Corwith activities. Rose always had a smile on her face and open arms for a hug. She enjoyed writing letters, baking Bohemian goodies, visiting with her many friends and making new friends wherever she went. Rose's husband, Harry, preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 1987. Rose moved to the Prairieview Apartments in Garner in 1991. She was active in the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner. Rose became a resident of Westview Care Center in Britt on Oct. 15, 2001.

Rose is survived by her three daughters, Mary Rohrback and her husband, Gary, Goldfield, Iowa, Connie Nelson and her husband, Michael, Britt, and Judy Grandgenett and her husband, Daniel, Corwith; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her brother, Edward Stupka, Kanawha. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; an infant daughter, Ann Marie; one brother, Frank Stupka; and two sisters-in-law, Fern and Rose Stupka.
