Florence Marie Veldhouse, 86, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at the Belmond Health Care Center. Funeral services were held Friday, June 8, at the United Methodist Church in Goodell with Rev. Curtis DeVance officiating. Interment was in the Amsterdam Cemetery near Goodell. Music was provided by Shirley Kuhlers, organist. Ushers were Brittany Anderson, Amy Skogerboe, Aaron Anderson, Nicholas Barillas, Anna Skogerboe, and Rachel Barillas; casket bearers were Gene Stille, Tom Stille, Steve Stille, Larry Langlitz, Mark Stille and Larry Boller.

Florence Marie Mason, the daughter of Walt and Madge (Robbins) Mason was born January 24, 1915 in Hancock County, Goodell. She attended and graduated from the Goodell High School and taught school in rural Twin Lakes Township. Florence was united in marriage to Paul Veldhouse in May of 1936, and they celebrated 65 years of marriage on the day her husband died, May 28, 2001. Paul and Florence built a new home in Goodell in 1947, and continued to live there until they entered the Belmond Health Center. They also built a cabin in Clear Lake, where they lived for a time. They enjoyed traveling and pulling their camper trailer. Florence was a member of the Goodell United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aid.. She enjoyed playing the piano.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Paul on May 28, 2001; daughter, Virginia Stille; brother, Francis; and sister, Louise. Survivors are her son-in-law, Bob Stille of Britt; granddaughters, Laurie S. Anderson and her husband, Doug of Nevada, Linda S. Skogerboe of Goodell and her fiance, Craig Meints; Lisa S. Barillas and her husband, Chris of Clear Lake; great-grandchildren, Britany and Aaron Anderson, Anna and Amy Skogerboe, Nicholas and Rachel Barillas.
