Luvern Edward Pals, 74, of Stanhope died June 5, 2001, at the Stratford Care Center. Luvern was born December 15, 1926, the son of Hero J. and Natte H. (Steenblock) Pals in Pleasant Township, Wright County. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was wounded. He was married to Joy Grempel on September 17, 1971. They had one son, Cory. He was employed by Tomco Seed Co. before he entered the service and for a time when he was out of the service. He drove a truck sometimes for Tomco and this led him to his driving career. He drove a semi for Hove Trucking for many years. The last years of his driving was for Smithway Motor Express of Fort Dodge. He kept driving until about a year ago when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, Hero in 1940 and his mother, Natte in 1928. He is survived by his son, Cory of Red Oak. Memorial services were held Saturday, June 9 at the Bethany Reformed Church in Belmond. Interment was in the Immanuel Reformed Church Cemetery in rural Belmond.
