George Christensen
2 May 1897 --- 13 December 1988

George Christensen was born May 2, 1897, the son of Hans and Marie Rasmussen Christensen, on the family farm northwest of Eagle Grove. He attended the Paine country school No. 5. George served in World War I from July 29, 1918 to January 6, 1919. He was united in marriage to Alma Tesdahl of Eagle Grove on October 10, 1928, at the Lutheran parsonage in Kanawha. He couple farmed the family farm for most of their married life before moving to Eagle Grove in I960. They made their home in town for seven years before George moved to the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove. Alma still resides at their Eagle Grove home.

George was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove, and the American Legion. George Christensen died at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home December 13, 1988, at the age of 91 years, seven months, and 11 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Frank, as an infant; Rasmie; Frank, James and Harry. He is survived by his wife Alma; one son, Delbert, Eagle Grove; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Shirley) Hardcastle, Fort Dodge; and Mrs. Thomas (Barbara) Hamer, Eagle Grove; seven grandchildren; three step grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and five step greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services were held on December 16, 1988, at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with the Rev. Paul Schaedig officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
