George John Romer
June 1, 1908 --- January 11, 1997

George John Romer was born on June 1, 1908, to Gustav and Marie (Ruhl) Romer at Humboldt, Iowa. On November 10, 1936, he was united in marriage to Leona Erdman at Spencer, Iowa. She died on March 2, 1983. He owned and operated Romer's Inn for many years and in his later years he did carpentry work. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. He lived in Eagle Grove for 39 years.

George J. Romer died Saturday, January 11, 1997, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 88.

Survivors include two daughters, Georgiann Loynachan and her husband, Richard, Duluth, Minn.; and Gloria Faiferlick, Eagle Grove; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Louise Gugger, Renwick. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leona; a daughter, Mary Moser; and a granddaughter, Deborah Moser.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 13, 1997, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove, with Father Wayne Droessler officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery at Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
