Emmett Allen Lamer
November 13, 1928 --- February 16, 1997

Emmett Allen Lamer was born November 13, 1928, to Edward and Blanche (Rockwell) Lamer at Iowa Falls, Iowa. He attended Eagle Grove schools and served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1949. On May 30, 1949, he was united in marriage to Mary Lavonne Fisher at Reno, Nevada. She died on October 13, 1993. They lived in Walnut, Bader, Fort Dodge, and Hardy, Iowa. They made Eagle Grove their permanent home in 1953. He worked for Chapman Oil Company in Eagle Grove. In 1959, he went to Barber School at the Sioux City Barber College. In 1975, he worked for Roger Toillion at Eagle Grove, driving truck for a Candy and Tobacco route for 2 years, worked for Umthun Trucking Company for 7 years, and also Giese Construction Company for 10 years.

Emmett Allen Lamer died Sunday, February 16, 1997, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion, Iowa, at the age of 68.

Survivors include his son, Michael Lamer and wife, Eileen, Spirit Lake; two grandchildren; two brothers, Claude Lamer and wife, Mildred, Eagle Grove, and John Lamer and wife, Evelyn, Hemet, Calif.; two sisters, Geraldine Loux, Fort Dodge, and Cora (Marge) O'Conner, Des Moines; and a brother-in-law, Bill Poggle, Seattle, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Lois Poggle and Frances Boring; and one brother, Robert.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 19, 1997, at 11 a.m. at the Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with Reverend Neil E. Hayen officiating. Burial was held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.
