Genevieve Leone Probst Odland
12 March 1905 ---- 30 June 1982

Mrs. Genevieve Odland, 77, of Clarion died on Wednesday, June 30, 1982, at Mercy Hospital in Mason City where she had been a patient for the past 12 days. Funeral services were held at the First Lutheran Church in Clarion on Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. William Granger officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery and the Eyler-Willim Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Wayne Ebert was the organist and Gary Brandt the soloist. Bearers were: Joel Sebby, Archie Nodland, Adolph Tendall, Glen Kaiser, H. M. Knutsen, and Dwight Tew.

Genevieve was born in Wright County [Galt, Iowa] on March 12, 1905 and was the daughter of John and Martha Hildahl Probst. She graduated from the Clarion High School in 1923 and then taught in the area rural schools. She was married to Norris W. Odland in Fort Dodge on December 24, 1924. The couple farmed in the Clarion-Holmes area and retired to Clarion in 1969. Mr. Odland died on October 21, 1978.

Survivors are: two daughters, Elain (Mrs. Eugene Cannistra) of North Hollywood, Calif., and Sandra (Mrs. William Leschensky) of Wheaton, Illinois, four grandchildren, a half brother and sister, Charles Probst of Radnor, Pa., and Grace Lobdell of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents, a half sister, and a son N. Loren in 1958.

Mrs. Odland was a member of First Lutheran Church, ALCW, Priscella Circle, Friendly Neighbor Club, and Progress Club.
