Arlyce L. (State) Rout, 84, of Boone, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa.

Funeral services for Arlyce L. Rout will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at First Lutheran Church, 206 West Ellsworth Street in Dows with Pastor Dan Solomon officiating. Burial will be held at the Galt Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Arlyce Louise (State) Rout, the daughter of Donald and Estella (Draves) State, was born January 20, 1938 in Dows, Iowa. She attended country school before attending Clarion High School, graduating with the class of 1956.

After graduation, Arlyce married William Z. Rout, Jr. on November 11, 1956 at the First Lutheran Church in Dows. The couple moved to Boone, Iowa where they started their family. The couple was blessed with three sons William L, Wade A. and Michael D.

Arlyce enjoyed working as a telephone operator in Boone before the family moved back to the Hancock County area. She volunteered in Britt with the reading buddies program and loved to garden. She had county fair award winning flowers. Most of all she enjoyed going on different trips with her family. They went on lots of camping/fishing trips in Iowa and Minnesota, a yearly fishing trip to Canada for over 40 years, and road trips to see the fall leaves and to get apples. Arlyce and William even drove to Alaska twice and followed the Lewis and Clark Trail. Arlyce moved back to Boone in 2010, where she became a mentor and was pen pals with Boone area school children after successfully battling cancer. She continued to win ribbons for her flowers.

Arlyce was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone and also enjoyed her sewing group and going to country music dances around the Boone area with her friends in the OFG.

Arlyce is survived by her sons William L. (Jody) Rout of Woden, Wade A. (Colleen) Rout of Klemme and Michael Rout of Clarion; two grandchildren David and Rozella; step granddaughter Krista (Drew) Sweers and their children; sister Avonne Johnson; brother Vernon State and many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Rout, Jr. in 2013 and her brother Darlyle State.
