Marvin Fredrick Lorenzen

Marvin Fredrick Lorenzen, the son of Herman and Dora Meyer Lorenzen, was born on a farm in Cumming County, Nebraska, on December 24, 1923. He grew up in Nebraska and spent most of his life as a truck driver. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1947. He was united in marriage with Mary Reikofski in 1952 at Yankton, South Dakota. He had lived in Eagle Grove for the past 14 years and was employed as a driver for Ellsworth Freight Lines for 14 years and most recently was driving for Werner Enterprises of Omaha, Neb. He died early Sunday morning, Nov. 17, after suffering an apparent heart attack while he was driving his semi truck-trailer near London in Madison County, Ohio. He attained the age of 61 years, 10 months, and 23 days.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Eagle Grove; two daughters, Mary Ellen, Mrs. Jim Emory of Montrose, Minn.; Leona, Mrs. Steve Klipp, of Coalville, Iowa; two sons, Walter Lorenzen of Eagle Grove; Marvin E. Lorenzen, serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis, Washington; one grandchild, Melanie Mae Martin; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lorenzen of West Point, Nebraska; a sister, Dorothea, Mrs. Lambert Zoveck of Pender, Neb., and a brother, Eldon Lorenzen of Lyons, Neb. and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Marvin F. Lorenzen, age 61, of Eagle Grove were held on Friday, Nov. 22, at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Paul Schaedig, pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove, with military honors conducted at the graveside by the officers and members of the Eagle Grove Veterans Organizations. Visitation was held on Thursday at the funeral home.
