Marcella Fern Emerick Toillion
December 8, 1910 — April 8, 1998

Marcella Fern Emerick was born in Troy Township on December 8, 1910, to Lawrence and Augusta Stryker Emerick. She received her formal education in Eagle Grove and in 1930 married Harlan Toillion. They began their married life in Eagle Grove and in 1936 moved to the family farm in Troy Township, where they lived until retiring in 1987. She was involved in several organizations and clubs including Troy Culture Club, Cecilian Music Club, Catholic Daughters of America and the Wright County Historical Society. She was also active with the Eagle Grove Historical Museum spending time organizing and keeping the Museum well preserved and interesting. She was always willing to guide various groups through the Museum, and especially enjoyed talking to children about their heritage.

Marcella Fern Toillion died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at Trinity Regional Hospital. Fort Dodge, at the age of 87.

Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Long, and husband, Max, Laurel, Mont.; and Margaret White, and husband, Ed. Whitefish, Mont., three sons, Lawrence Toillion and wife, Nancy, Hudson, Ill., Roger Toillion, and wife, Bonnie, Eagle Grove, and Bruce Toillion, and wife, Arneda, Spokane, Wash.; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Knutson, Lakewood, Colo.; and a niece, Lois Lynch, also of Lakewood, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a great-grandchild, Blake Stevenson.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 13, 1998, at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eagle Grove, with Reverend Wayne Droessler officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
