Harlan Joseph Toillion
January 22, 1908 — April 7, 1988

Harlan Joseph Toillion was born January 22, 1908 in Kossuth County, the son of Charles and Margaret Berscheid Toillion. The family moved to Eagle Grove in 1915, and Harlan attended the Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1926. He then attended Columbia College in Dubuque.

He was united in marriage to Marcella Emerick of Eagle Grove January 9, 1930, at the Sacred Heart Church. After living in Eagle Grove for the first six years of their marriage they moved to a farm in Troy Township where they resided until moving back into town in 1987.

Harlan Toillion died at Friendship Haven Nursing Home, Fort Dodge, April 7, 1988 at the age of 80 years, two months, and 20 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Marcella; three sons, Lawrence of Hudson, Ill.; Roger, Eagle Grove; and Bruce, Spokane, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Max (Dorothy) Long of Laurell, Mont.; and Mrs. Ed (Margaret) White of Whitefish, Mont., 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Funeral services were held April 12, 1988 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Wayne Droessler officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
