Katherine Thielen Sadler
August 31, 1876 — November 26, 1949

Mrs. P. M. Sadler, 73, died at her home, suddenly Saturday afternoon as she was visiting with friends who came to call. Mrs. Sadler had been in ill health for some time, but since the death of her husband, less than month ago, has failed rapidly. She is survived by her four children, Theodore E. of Clarion, Fred of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Chas. Wanken and Nick Sadler of this city, also eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, three sisters and one brother Matt Thielen of this city.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at Sacred Heart church, the Rev. James Slowey officiating. Burial was in Calvary cemetery.

Katherine Thielen was born August 31, 1876 in Kankakee county. Ill., to Christina and Peter Thielen, and died at her home in Eagle Grove Nov. 26, 1949, at the age of 73 years, 2 months and 26 days.

She came to Iowa with her parents as a small child and settled on farm southeast of Webster City. Later the family moved to Wright county and settled in Woolstock township. Here she grew to womanhood and on April 9, 1896 was united marriage to Peter M. Sadler. Four children were born to this union, Theodore E. of near Clarion, Fred of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Chas. Wanken and Nick Sadler of Eagle Grove.

In 1903 the family moved to Eagle Grove where they lived for one year then returned to the farm where they lived until 1914. At that time, they sold the farm and moved to a farm near Lisbon, N. D. They returned to Iowa in 1917 and settled in Eagle Grove where they have made their home ever since.

Left to mourn are the four children, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Nilles of Duncombe, Mrs. Nick Reiland of Clarion, Mrs. Peter Schlader of Grand Rapids, Minn, and one brother Matt Thielen of this city. She was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, 3 brothers Theodore, Peter arid Nick, and two sisters Mrs. Mike Rink and Mrs. Henry Sadler.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at Sacred Heart church with Rev. Slowey officiating. Burial was in Calvary cemetery. Pall bearers were nephews, Frank Sadler, Matt Sadler, Ted Thielen of Eagle Grove, Joe Reiland of Clarion, Edward Thielen of Williams and Robert Nilles of Webster City.

Mr. and Mrs. Sadler celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 9th, 1946.

Mrs. Sadler has been in failing health for some time and since the death of her husband only 26 days before she has failed rapidly. Death came suddenly as she was visiting with callers who had just dropped in.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were C. N. Norris of Elgin, HL, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sadler and Darlene of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Elizabeth Thielen and family of Duncombe, and Mr. and Mrs. Nick Reiland and Mr. and Mrs. Don Sadler of Clarion, and Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Alter of Webster City.
