Lauris Raye Plunkett, 80, died Saturday, April 23, 2005, at the Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father David Beckman officiating. Visitation is Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with a Rosary Service at 5:00 p.m. with time for sharing. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Lauris Raye Plunkett was born August 31, 1924, southwest of Eagle Grove, near Vincent, on the family farm, the daughter of Herschel and Nell (Wilcox) Shipman. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1942. She also graduated from Business College. Laurie married John R. Plunkett on June 9, 1949 in her parent's home in Eagle Grove. She has been a lifetime Eagle Grove resident living on the same family farm until moving to her current home in town three years ago. Laurie was a homemaker, a great farm wife and farm manager. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Troy Culture Club and the Golf Course Bridger's Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Survivors include her children: Kerry Ann Shaughnessy and husband, Jim, of Tacoma, WA, Dave Plunkett and wife, Jan, of Spirit Lake, Regina Lesher and husband, Gary, of Eagle Grove and Ann Birdsley and husband, Jeff, of Urbandale; six grandchildren: Vincent, Sean, Kate, Marie, Quinn and Izaak; five step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; seven step-great-grandchildren, sister, Marge Bartley and husband, Chuck, of Eagle Grove and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, in March of 2000; brother, Duane Shipman and a sister, Monice Larson. The Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove is in charge of the arrangements.
