Henry Plunkett's Brother Loses Life in Street Car-Auto Smash in Brandon, Canada.

Brandon, Manitoba, Nov. 22. — The first fatality in connection with the street railway system occurred Saturday night, when Frank R. Plunkett, train dispatcher with the Canadian National Railway, was instantly killed when his automobile collided with a street car.

It appears that Mr. Plunkett had been delayed a while for a train to go over the street railway crossing, and it is thought that he was making speed when he made a head-on collision with the street car, completely smashing his own machine, though but little damage was done to the heavier vehicle.

The deceased was well known here, and resided with his wife and family on Fourteenth street.

Dr. A. T. Condell, district coroner, says it is likely that an inquest will be held.

Frank Plunkett, brother of our own Henry Plunkett, was a former Eagle Grove high school student. He left Eagle Grove 21 years ago.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Helen Plunkett of Ft. Williams, Ontario, Canada; five brothers, T. J. and Leo of Winnipeg, W. J. of Sioux Lookout, J. L. of Manhattan, Mont., Henry of Eagle Grove, and one sister, Mrs. S. Cashmore of Fort Williams. His wife and two daughters also live to mourn their loss.

The remains reached Eagle Grove Tuesday afternoon and the funeral was held Wednesday morning, Nov. 18, from the Kubitschek & Kastler funeral home. All the immediate relatives were here tor the funeral except Mrs. Cashmore and J. L. Plunkett. The sincere sympathy of all is extended the bereaved relatives.
