Verla A. Brooks, 80, born September 19, 1934 in Clarion, Iowa, died October 19, 2014, in Arizona.

She was the daughter of James R. and Irene (Nelson) Howieson. She was raised in Clarion - attending Clarion School, graduating with the class of 1952. She worked as a telephone operator - laboratory work in Belmond - drive school bus for Belmond and spent 10 years at Eaton Corporation. She loved to work crossword puzzles in her spare time. She was preceded in death by a son, Caryl Caquelin; parents, James and Irene Howieson; and brothers, Merle and Lynn Howieson. She is survived by special friend Bert Wells, brother Robert (Eleanore), Jim (Mary), Darrell (Ruth) and sisters-in-law Barbara and Sandy, and several nieces and nephews. No services will be held at this time as she donated her body to science.
