Vera Cordelia Shearer (1893-1894)

Vera Cordelia Shearer infant daughter and only child of Mr. and Mrs. James Shearer, was born Aug. 10th '93 and died May 8th '94.

There is an inscription on a childs tombstone in a New England Churchyard which reads as follows: "Who plucked that flower, cried the gardner as he walked through the garden. His fellow servant answered, 'the Master,' and the gardner held his peace."

The parents and relatives have the sympathy of all in this their sad bereavement, and while we shall miss the cherub hands and the beautiful face, yet we remember that the little one has only entered into that,

"Sleep that no pain shall wake.
Night that no moon shall break,
'Till joy shall overtake
Her perfect calm."
