Funeral services for Miss Anina Hansen, 88, were held Saturday afternoon in the United Presbyterian Church in charge of Rev. Marion Blake. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery.

Miss Hansen died Nov. 22nd at Mercy Hospital, Mason City following an illness of several months. She had been a resident of the I.O.O.F. Home of Mason City for the past 6 years.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. F. A. Larson of Mason City and a step-brother, Laurits Nelson of Goldfield, and nieces and nephews.

Obituary

Anina Hansine Marentina Hansen was born to Gristen and Annmarie Hansen on April 21, 1879, near Nordenbro, Langeland, Denmark and died November 22, at the Mercy Hospital at Mason City following an illness of several months.

In 1889, she came with her parents, two sisters, and a brother to the United States, where the family settled in the Evergreen community near Goldfield. Here she grew to womanhood and attended school to learn the language.

She lived in Goldfield most of her life until 1961, when she went to the IOOF Home at Mason City.

As a young woman she joined the United Presbyterian Church to which she remained faithful the rest of her life. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, John Hansen; a sister, Mrs. A. A. Blewett; a half-brother, Arvig C. Nelson; and four step-brothers, Carl, Albert, George F. and Nels Nelson. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. F. A. Larson of Mason City; as step-brother, Laurits Nelson of Goldfield and several nieces and nephews. – Goldfield Chronicle
